Hmm. I wonder if they changed the name because they're not getting their poll material from 100 Mexicanos anymore.

Can't keep a good format down, I guess.

I hinted at this months ago, but no one responded.  Why was CMD canceled in the first place?

Hard to tell.  Televisa is such a monopoly in Mexico that its ratings are probably only know to its executives and nobody else.  '100 Mexicanos Dijeron' lasted five years, which is almost three more than 'Atinale Al Precio' (the Mexican 'Price Is Right').  Oh well, Mexico's loss is our gain since Marco Antonio Regil is probably the best young game show host working on TV right now (on any language).

Isn't this show airing on the same Spanish-language television network that 100MD aired on?

Same nights (M to F), same host, same timeslot (7PM), same format, etc.  Apparently this will be an American-produced version of a show previously produced for Mexican TV that was just re-broadcast in the States.  The only difference was that the Mexican version was played for Mexican currencies and was edited to fit an American format from its original Mexican version.  Expect the new version to be played for dollars, a more American mix of questions and a wider variety of ethnic Spanish contestants (Puerto Ricans, Caribbean folks, South Americans, etc.) than just Mexicans.

On the "Atinale" page, there's a picture that intrigues me: second set of pictures, bottom row, center.  It appears to be some sort of pricing game based on dominoes.  Anybody know what the game is?

Well, it is going to be Spanish speaking American families and it will be an American produced show as opposed to Mexican families on a Mexican produced show.

It's in exactly the same language, airing on exactly the same network, in exactly the same time slot. Which means that it's gonna be serving exactly the same audience, give or take a few thousand people based on the change in the location of the contestant pool.

Point taken.  I understood the quote as how is it "our gain" as in America's gain.

Well, I understood the quote as being stupid, so I guess that's where we differ.

Question : Where is this being shot? Because the newer pics of the show look a LOT like the Karn feud set with some modifications....

If this is being shot in LA, could we be seeing OHurley's Feud on the same set in a massive example of cost effectiveness?

I kinda like the set...but I'm curious as to why they have cheerleaders for the families? Not that I'm complaining...at ALL.

Because it's just not a Spanish game show without the hot babes! Remember the Oca Girls? :)

(Damn, I miss that show. Fear Factor and Dog Eat Dog weren't NOTHIN' compared to Oca. :))

I hope not...It was a little too loud for my taste.  However, I did like their choice of font for the numbers....when was the last time a show used the "Go" font?  Zach, please don't answer.

Time for a little housecleaning again!

Why was 100MD cancelled in the first place? Four words:

Vas O No Vas.

That pinché show is now airing daily on Canal de las Estrellas, Lunes-Viernes á 15:00.
(The same time slot as 100MD, and before that, Atinale)

Simply put, VonV is gaining in popularity out there, and they decided to go the route of the UK and add a daily version with 22 boxes.

----------------------

As to the question why it is OUR gain. It is OUR gain because I do not see this show airing on ANY of the Mexican markets. For a long time, 100MD only aired in Mexico, and then that show became so popular that Telefutura decided to air it, and thank goodness they did. =) 'Twas the happiest day of my life when I finally saw my favourite Mexican show to finally air in the States.

Also also, while 100MD did air in the 7pm timeslot until 17 October 2oo5 (Yes, I remember the date...no, I'm NOT turning into Zach), it moved to the 8pm slot until a month or so ago. That isn't why the show got cancelled here. The show got cancelled here, most likely, since Telefutura simply ran out of episodes to air. (100MD had been cancelled late in 2oo5) So, I'll give brownie points to Chris since it's in the same timeslot as it was a while ago.

---------------------

If you guys call the number, they are looking for contestants RIGHT NOW! So...if anybody in your family speaks Spanish and loved 100MD, get them to try out! Something tells me my mom might enjoy this one...

Finally, I must end on this note. The two girls for this show....YOWZA!!! No offense to Peony and Roxi, but DAYUM! It just wouldn't be a Mexican game show without sexy Latina women. RAWR!

...and yes, Chris.... I miss the Oca girls, too. Somewhere, that show needs to replay, if not just for the Oca girls. =)
